The Central Islip Public Library's annual Budget Vote and Trustee Election will be taking place on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Library Trustee, Dunia Mars, is running for re-election to our Board of Trustees, and wants to share this message with our community:
"I am honored to seek reelection to the Library Board and to continue serving our community. I believe our library is a vital resource—one that supports lifelong learning, literacy, and connection for residents of all ages.
My commitment to service is demonstrated through my long-standing involvement in our schools and local organizations. I previously served as President of the PTA at Reed Middle School, as well as a delegate for various schools and Recording Secretary, roles that strengthened my leadership skills and provided me with a strong understanding of school governance and collaboration. I also served as Assistant Cubmaster for Cub Pack 277, further reinforcing my dedication to youth development and community engagement. In addition, I volunteer each year at Breakfast with Santa at Central Islip High School, an event that brings our community together and supports local families.
I am an involved, civic-minded community member who values service, collaboration, and thoughtful leadership. If reelected, I will continue to work collaboratively, listen carefully to residents, and advocate for library programs and services that enrich and strengthen our community."
