Sustainability Policy

The Library Board of Trustees, Administration, and staff are committed to reducing our environmental impact and promoting stewardship at every level of our organization.

The Library will support sustainable practices that strengthen both the Library and the broader community.

The Library encourage vendors and partners working with or on behalf of the Library to align with our environmental and sustainability standards.

The Library also seeks to embed sustainable thinking throughout the organization, including in areas such as:

  • Facilities management
  • Operations and administration
  • Technology and procurement
  • Programming and outreach
  • Policy development and partnerships

This policy is grounded in the "Triple Bottom Line" of sustainability, which balances:

  • Environmental Responsibility- Reducing waste, conserving resources, and minimizing the Library’s ecological footprint.
  • Social Equity- Creating inclusive, healthy, and accessible services and programs for all community members.
  • Economic Feasibility- Making fiscally responsible decisions that ensure long-term institutional viability.
