Program Description

Event Details

Early Speech-Language-Hearing screening  looks for characteristics that might identify risk for underlying disorders of learning and attention. Some benefits to early screening and possible detection include: children receiving extra help sooner and preventing then from falling behind: preventing children from being inappropriately identified as having a learning disability: or incorrectly being classified as needing special education services and supports. Screenings will be facilitated by interns from the SUNY Stony Brook Southampton Graduate Speech-Pathology-Language Program. Evaluations take approximately 30 minutes per child. Pre-registration is recommended. Children will be screened in the order in which they are registered.
